Bio:

My earliest memory of music is sitting on my grandfather's kneewhile he sang some old song about deer. I swear. I remember trying to singalong, but couldn't keep up. Must've been 3 or 4. …and my mom and grandmaplaying ‘Heart and Soul' together on the piano. When I was 13or so my grandparent's took a trip to Hawaii and brought home a ukulele, which sat around and collected dust. I convinced them that I could play itif they let me take it home and practice. (grandma agreed as long as I learnedhow to play a song by her favorite guitarist: Chet Atkins). This was aboutthe time when I started getting into rock music and I would jam along withthe ukulele to AC/DC songs and swear that it sounded just like the song(aslong as the record was playing of course). I've been possessed by music, especiallyguitar, ever since.

Once Corey picked up a guitar, he continued to play and improve. Middle schoolsaw band-mate Dan Welsh also take up bass, they've been together ever since. During high school, Corey continued to expand his skills. He became a memberof a few basement bands with Dan...Sound Chaser and Matrix to name a couple.

High school passed and Corey sought out some formal training in music. Coreyspent two years studying classical guitar under Ginger Hildebrand of Peabody. After placing first in the Music Monthly Mid-Atlantic guitar competition andworking for a year in the U.S.P.S. he moved to Hollywood, California to attendM.I. (Musician's Institute). He graduated with honors and a 4.0 g.p.a.

Corey lists his influences as: Music, Life, Tiger Woods, Hugh Hefner, CalRipken and his bandmates.

Angus Young(AC/DC) is the reason I picked up guitar. Then came RandyRhoads, Alex Lifeson, Chet Atkins, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, SteveVai. I've always loved and played classical guitar too. I learned lots ofBach, Augustin Barrios and my absolute favorite, Antonio Lauro(1917-1986)who was the best guitar composer on the planet. When I went to G.I.T, a lotof my teachers really blew me away. Not just with the way they played, butthe way they thought. These guys are truly world class musicians. I learnedso much from them. Especially that knowing the technical side of music meansnothing musically. And that music is an intangible, a liquid that cannot becontained within a set of rules. But… understanding music theory canhelp find the music inside that is trying to get out. To me, that meant learningit cold, so that thought didn't interfere with the music--still a work inprogress. At GIT, they focused a lot on jazz guitar because of the improvisationalaspects(long solos) and the fact that jazz really tests your brain. They turnedme on to some of the greatest players and musicians around.

If I had to list my top ten all-time favorite guitar players…Icouldn't put them in order, I'd probably need a few alternates…David Gilmour, James Hetfield, Jimmy Page, SRV, Mark Knopfler(dire straits),Adam Jones(tool), Wes Montgomery, Angus Young, Robben Ford, BB King, SteveVai. And I gotta give it up for a couple of my local heroes: Jim Mcdonough(JCS,Supine) and Bryan Ewald.
